A light weight floating boom used to contain and control the spread of debris and waterborne spills such as oil and fuel. Used for quick response and preventative deployment in relatively calm waters such as harbours, rivers and lakes.
  • The PIG® Light-Duty Oil Containment Boom is light weight and easy to handle; no need to use boats or cranes
  • Easily stored and transported
  • Suitable for use in relatively calm waters, such as harbours, rivers and lakes. Not recommended for use in open seas
  • The PIG® Light-Duty Oil Containment Boom is very flexible, allowing the product to adapt and adjust to the flow of the water
  • PVC material is strong and durable and has a smooth surface finish, making it easy to decontaminate after use
  • Strong aluminium ASTM couplings allow multiple units to be easily and securely linked together
  • PIG® Light-Duty Oil Containment Boom floats are a stable, square foam design located on both sides of the PVC barrier to create a perfect balance during flotation
  • Floats are constructed of closed-cell foam, ensuring they stay water-repellent indefinitely during use
  • Standard booms use galvanised chain which is ideal for freshwater deployment, and will resist corrosion for up to 6-months of continuous deployment in sea water

  • Environmental Protection Act 1990
    To ensure that any potential polluting process has an authorisation from either the Environment Agency or Local Authority and that control measures are in place to prevent, minimise or render harmless emissions into the surrounding environment. 
  • The Control of Pollution Act (1974)
    The act controls water pollution, all inland water, and the sea within 3 miles of the coast. The deposit of polluting material in controlled water is prohibited, but discharges of trade effluent are permitted with the consent of SEPA.
  • Water Resources Act 1991
    This act regulates the activities of the Environment Agency. The Agency is obliged to prevent pollution of a watercourse or groundwater by issuing consents to make discharges to watercourses. To pollute a watercourse is a criminal offence, and offending individuals and companies can be prosecuted.
