Additional Information

  • Equality Act 2010
The Equality Act 2010 replaces the existing antidiscrimination laws with a single Act in England, Scotland & Wales. It simplifies the law, removing inconsistencies and making it easier for people to understand and comply with it. It also strengthens the law in important ways to help tackle discrimination and inequality. As with the DDA, these obligations mean your premises must not make access impossible or unreasonably difficult for disabled people. This includes easy and safe approaches to entrances, ramps/slopes with anti-slip surfaces and clearly marked steps.
  • The Disability Discrimination Act 1995, Part III
Part 3 of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 places duties on those providing goods, facilities or services to the public and those selling, letting or managing premises. From 1 October 2004, these obligations mean your premises must not make access impossible or unreasonably difficult for disabled people. This includes easy and safe approaches to entrances, ramps/slopes with anti-slip surfaces and clearly marked steps. The DDA still applies in Northern Ireland.
